SF6 gas has a history of more than a hundred years.  It was a synthetic inert gas synthesized by French chemists Moissan and Lebeau in 1900 and used by the U.S. military for the Manhattan Project (nuclear military) around 1940.  1947 available commercially.

The current SF6 gas is mainly used in the power industry.  SF6 gas is used for 4 types of electrical equipment as insulation and / or arc suppression;  SF6 circuit breakers and GIS (here referred to as SF6 enclosed electrical appliances, internationally known as "Gas Insulated Switchgear" )), SF6 load switchgear, SF6 insulated transmission line, SF6 transformer and SF6 insulated substation.  80% for high and medium voltage power equipment.
